“Best Sound Design” and Cannes finalist: Giuseppe Celestino, LABASAD lecturer, awarded at two international AI film festivals.
We are delighted to share a special recognition for one of our faculty members. Giuseppe Celestino, Creative Director, AI Filmmaker and musician, has just been awarded at two of the world's most influential generative cinema events.
In April 2026, with his short film “What Stays”, Giuseppe achieved three nominations and the “Best Sound Design” award at the Soulscape 2026 Global AI Cinema Lab + Summit, held in San Francisco.
Soulscape is a 48-hour film lab that brings together the most advanced creators in the sector, with a jury made up of professionals from Pixar, Sony and Lionsgate. A space where narrative and technology merge to redefine cinematographic language.
In parallel, his short film “Before” has already built a solid track record since its premiere in January 2026: winner of “Best AI Film” at the World Class Film Awards and the Los Angeles Film Awards, among others. It has now been selected as a finalist at WAIFF, World AI Film Festival 2026, whose awards ceremony is held at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
The festival, presided over by actress Gong Li and with Agnès Jaoui as jury president, has received more than 5,500 entries from over 80 countries. The jury members include leading names in international cinema such as Mathieu Kassovitz, director of “La Haine”, and Roger Avary, co-writer of “Pulp Fiction” and Oscar winner, alongside directors, producers and actors with global careers. A panel that places WAIFF among the events of greatest creative weight in the current cinematographic landscape.
Giuseppe is a lecturer on the Máster Online en Inteligencia Artifical para Inductrias Creativas, bringing a living artistic practice to the classroom, connected to what is happening right now in the industry. These awards are a direct reflection of that energy.
