Four LABASAD students win two Silver and two Bronze at the 2025 LAUS Awards

LABASAD’s creative talent once again shines at the 55th edition of the ADG-FAD Laus Awards — the most prestigious accolades in graphic design and visual communication in Spain.
On 19 June, the Disseny Hub Barcelona hosted the highly anticipated Nit ADG Laus 2025, an event that brought together the national creative community to discover this year’s award-winning projects. Among those recognised, four LABASAD students stood out with distinction, winning two silver and two bronze Laus awards for projects developed during their studies in our online master’s programmes.
The edition began on a high note: during the nominations phase, twelve finalist projects by ten LABASAD students had already been announced. The jury was impressed by the quality, social awareness and conceptual innovation shown in these proposals.
Mónica Vargas Michel, student of the Máster Online en Motion Graphics, was awarded a bronze in the Audiovisual category for her impactful project ¿Quién cuida a quien cuida?
This audiovisual piece was created through a collaboration between a social sciences researcher and a psychologist/animator, aiming to shed light on the stigma surrounding psychiatric disorders and the act of caregiving. Set in the Mexican context, where care responsibilities fall predominantly on women without institutional support, the short film poses a crucial question: Who looks after the caregivers?
Using real testimonies and a visual narrative that shifts from darkness to hope, Mónica builds an intimate, empathetic and much-needed story. This is a piece that not only denounces, but also opens up urgent conversations around mental health and collective care.

Also receiving a bronze, this time in the Laus Aporta category, was Maria Lia Da Costa Fernandes, student of the Online Master in Graphic and Digital Design, with her project The Inconvenience Store.
A bold critique of greenwashing and convenient consumerism, The Inconvenience Store is a brand that challenges the aspirational narrative of sustainability with a direct, ironic, and brutalist approach.
Its message is clear: being sustainable is neither easy nor pretty, but it is essential. This “anti-store” selects genuinely sustainable products and presents them without embellishments or false promises. The entire brand experience — from its naming to its visual identity — is designed to provoke discomfort, awaken awareness, and offer real solutions. A provocative project that turns unease into brand value.

Alexandra Christodoulou, student of the Online Master in Editorial and Advertising Illustration, won silver in the Advertising category with her campaign Walk, Don’t Run for Camper Shoes.
Alexandra’s work stands out for its visual freshness and strong conceptual development, blending editorial illustration with advertising strategy to deliver a message that reflects the brand’s identity with style and coherence. A calm, reflective and visually compelling approach that — as the title suggests — invites us to walk slowly, with purpose and awareness.

Lastly, Martina Morató Planell, student of the Máster Online en Diseño Web y App: UX/UI, received a silver in the Laus Aporta category for her project Can Tothom, an app designed to foster social inclusion and build connections between migrant individuals and local communities.
With a clear and accessible interface, the platform integrates job listings, useful information, cultural events, and support networks. The project is notable for its community-centred approach and for providing a technological response to an urgent social need: the creation of more cohesive, inclusive, and participative societies.

These four awards recognise the work, dedication and social awareness of our students, as well as LABASAD’s methodology, which focuses on creative excellence, real-world relevance, and the continuous nurturing of talent.
At a time when design must respond to increasingly complex social and environmental challenges, we proudly celebrate that our projects are contributing with new perspectives, solutions, and possibilities.
Congratulations to the winners and all the finalists! The future of design is being shaped here — and it’s more promising than ever.
