LABASAD lights up Barcelona once again with “Els Llums de Nadal il·luminen el comerç”
Once again, the talent of LABASAD students lights up Barcelona through the project “Els Llums de Nadal il·luminen el comerç”, bringing design to shop windows in the neighbourhoods of Sant Antoni and Poble-sec.
Aligned with the strategic guidelines of Barcelona City Council, the initiative promotes both local commerce and young talent, sharing the responsibility of designing unique Christmas lighting for neighbourhood businesses. An approach that reinforces Barcelona’s identity as an innovative, creative city closely linked to design, while fostering a festive spirit rooted in the city’s values.
At LABASAD, a design school with a strong connection to the city, we support this project as part of our commitment to training future designers, fostering meaningful links between design, the urban environment and the local community through real, collaborative experiences.
Behind each shop window lies a collective effort that brings together different perspectives, disciplines and creative processes, supported by academic guidance and teamwork.
Poble-sec · El Corner
The intervention at El Corner was developed by a team tutored by Toni Cabrera, with the participation of:
Laura Fernández Latorre, student of the Máster de Dirección de Arte en Comunicación e Inteligencia Artificial
Aisha Hallar Meknassi Sedik, student of the Máster en Diseño de Producto
Margalida Carme Llompart García, student of the Máster en Fotografía Profesional
A multidisciplinary team that successfully brought together art direction, product design and a photographic perspective in a proposal that is coherent and sensitive to the neighbourhood’s context.
Sant Antoni · Santa Antonia
In the Sant Antoni neighbourhood, the shop window of Santa Antonia was transformed by a second team, also tutored by Toni Cabrera, formed by:
Andrea López Baz, student of the Máster de Dirección de Arte en Comunicación e Inteligencia Artificial
Camila Felicitas Tahan, student of the Máster en Diseño de Interiorismo y Hospitality
Sílvia Albanell Travesa, student of the Máster de Diseño de Producto
Kelly Julieth Ceballos Díaz, student of the Máster Online en Diseño Gráfico Avanzado
The diversity of profiles was key to shaping an intervention rich in detail, concept and execution, demonstrating how collaborative work enhances creative outcomes.
Projects like this allow students to work with real clients, face creative challenges beyond the classroom and understand design as a tool capable of generating cultural and social value within the city.
At LABASAD, we believe in learning by doing and in offering our students experiences that connect creativity, place and industry.
