This is how we live LABASAD FEST!: design, community and creativity without borders

A gathering of inspiring talks, workshops, music and genuine connections between students, lecturers and creatives from all over the world, celebrating LABASAD’s talent face to face.

Last 5th July we held the third edition of LABASAD FEST! at the Jardins de la Finca Agustí Pedro i Pons in Barcelona—and without a doubt, it was the most special one yet. We were joined by students, lecturers and master’s directors from all over the world, who turned this gathering into a true celebration of design, art and our international community.

The festival kicked off with a warm welcome on the main stage, hosted by Bruno Sokolowicz, which was followed by the opening speech from Jordi Camí, Director of LABASAD. His words marked the beginning of a day devoted to inspiration, design, and connection among creative minds from across the globe.

The first highlight of the afternoon came with the talk by Pau Aleikum Garcia, founder of Domestic Data Streamers. With a stimulating and provocative intervention, he encouraged us to rethink the way we communicate the reality around us, presenting design as a powerful tool for building connections and transforming the world.

Afterwards, it was time to interact and get to know each other. Cristina Grande and Aida Fita led “Shall We Meet?”, a networking activity designed to break the ice and foster spontaneous encounters among attendees, creating new links between creative professionals from various disciplines and backgrounds.

One of the most popular spots was the Custom Notebook Workshop, where every attendee had the chance to customise their LABASAD notebook freely. In a relaxed and collaborative setting, ideas flowed onto paper through markers, collages, and a great desire to express freely and creatively.

The Artisan Screen-Printing Workshop, led by the Barcelona-based studio L’Anacrònica, was an invitation to reconnect with manual techniques. With over a decade of experience preserving traditional printing methods, their team guided attendees in creating a hand-printed, personalised LABASAD tote bag. A truly hands-on experience combining craftsmanship, ink, and raw creativity.

Artist and illustrator Helena Sbeghen, lecturer in the Online Master’s in Editorial and Advertising Illustration at LABASAD, led the creation of a collaborative mural that was built up throughout the afternoon. Using markers, paint, and lots of creative energy, each person left their mark and message, shaping a collective piece as diverse as our community.

At the Information Point, besides answering questions, visitors could also get hold of the official LABASAD t-shirt—a limited edition souvenir with an exclusive discount for attendees. A special keepsake many were keen not to miss.

And, as every festival deserves a feast, we rounded off the experience with food trucks, a drinks bar, and delicious handmade ice creams from Paral·lelo. Thanks to the complimentary tickets included with entry, everyone could enjoy food, drink and dessert without having to worry about anything except having a great time.

As night fell, music took over the atmosphere with a powerful DJ set by LastNite DJs, accompanied by visual projections based on student projects. This sensorial experience brought the festival to a vibrant, festive close—celebrating the talent and diversity of the LABASAD community.

LABASAD FEST! once again proved that our school is much more than just a place of learning: it is a living, diverse, and global community. Students, teachers and master’s directors who had been sharing online classes for months from different parts of the world met—many of them for the first time—in person, sharing conversations, creative processes, laughter, and the thrill of creating together.

If you couldn’t make it this year, don’t worry—LABASAD FEST! will be back with more special editions. Keep an eye on our social media and the LABASAD blog to stay in the loop.
